After leaving our friends in Puerto Montt we drove further north to Puerto Octay, a small (german) town at one of the lakes found in this region. We stayed at a beautiful B&B with view to the volcano Osorno.
…which we tried to climb up… but with more than 30º C, no shadow and lots of our friends (the horse flies) we did not manage to get that far. Instead we walked through a rainforest to a beautiful waterfall.
In the B&B we met a lot of nice people who gave us an idea where to go next-the region of Araucanía. On the way we stopped at a huge market in Orsorno, where you could find lots and lots of fruit and vegetables. For lunch we went to a hidden place just outside of Osorno. A german brewery.
Really good beer but too hot to try the Spätzle or Bratwurst.
Finally we arrived in Curacautin. We camped here next to an swiss hotel for two days, surrounded by volcanos and forests. Today we had a great hike up to 1700m in the araucanían forest. Gorgeous views on all the snow covered volcanos.
Tomorrow we will go back south. Just five more days.
